Building Performance Standards – Recommendations for Canadian Policy Makers

REALPAC’s new report, Building Performance Standards – Recommendations for Canadian Policy Makers, was recently released.

Developed in collaboration with REALPAC members, the report provides policymakers with a set of guiding principles and BPS conditions for success from the commercial real estate industry perspective.

Sample key points include:

• Aligning BPS policy with emission sources that are both material and under the building owner’s control.
•  Avoiding a proliferation of different BPS requirements across the country.
• Ensuring policymakers understand the economic impact of their BPS laws and enable the spreading of costs and benefits across affected stakeholders.

REALPAC will use the report as a key reference when advocating for the industry during BPS development efforts, such as with the City of Toronto.
